[WATCH]: MS Dhoni celebrates 44th birthday with his friends in Ranchi

One of India’s greatest captains, MS Dhoni, celebrated his 44th birthday on Monday, July 7. Despite leading a quiet life, the cricketer received thousands of heartfelt birthday wishes.

In a video shared, the legendary wicketkeeper-batter is seen celebrating his birthday along with his friends in Ranchi. Dhoni cut his birthday cake and made sure that everyone got a piece of it.

One of his most memorable achievements is being the only captain in cricket history to win all three white-ball ICC trophies. He made an unforgettable start to his captaincy tenure by leading a young Indian side to victory in the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa.

Four years later, Dhoni scripted history again by guiding India to an ODI World Cup win in 2011, ending a 28-year drought. The victory was sealed with Dhoni hitting the winning six at the Wankhede Stadium. In 2013, he completed the ICC treble by leading the Men in Blue to the Champions Trophy title in England.

While he is primarily celebrated for his white-ball exploits, he also achieved significant success in Test cricket. In 2009, the Ranchi-born became the first Indian captain to take the national team to the No.1 spot in the ICC Test rankings. The milestone was achieved with a series win over Sri Lanka.

In franchise cricket, he holds the record for most matches as captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL), having led his side in 235 games. Dhoni captained CSK from 2008 to 2015, led Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016, and returned to CSK in 2018, continuing till 2023. Recently, in the 2025 season, he was again handed the captaincy duties after Ruturaj Gaikwad's mid-season injury. Under his leadership, CSK clinched five IPL titles, the joint-most in the history of the tournament.
