[Watch] T20 Blast 2025: 42-year-old James Anderson shines with three-wicket haul
Lancashire eventually ended up wining the contest by 21 runs.
James Anderson delivered a bowling masterclass to pick up a three-wicket haul during a North Group contest between Yorkshire and Lancashire in the 2025 edition of the T20 Blast. The former English legend ended up with excellent figures of 3/25 in four overs.
Three of the top four of Yorkshire's batters fell to Anderson, and all three of his wickets were catches taken on the fence. The biggest one was that of the well-set Abdullah Shafique (54 off 34) who fell on the fourth ball of the 15th over of the run-chase.
Shafique's wicket was off a short delivery. The batter's attempt to hook the ball above the fielder at deep square leg turned out to be unsuccessful as Ashton Turner completed a simple catch. Yorkshire's innings just crumbled after that as they were bowled out for 153 in 19.1 overs. Anderson was the most economical bowler across the two sides.
Earlier in the game, it was Jos Buttler's 77 off 46 which helped Lancashire get to a sizeable total. The wicketkeeper-batter's innings comprised eight fours and three sixes. Buttler and Anderson fell on consecutive deliveries in the 20th over of the first innings, respectively. Despite Anderson's stellar display, Buttler was awarded the Player of the Match for his boundary-laden knock.
