Legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni arrived in Ahmedabad on Sunday morning to witness the finals of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium between India and New Zealand.
The former wicketkeeper-batter, who led India to their first T20 World Cup title in 2007, has once again made his presence felt during a crucial moment in the team’s campaign. Fans are hopeful that the aura associated with Dhoni will inspire the current Indian team as they attempt to lift the trophy in front of their home crowd.

Dhoni had also been present during India’s semifinal clash against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Men in Blue registered a thrilling seven-run victory in a high-scoring encounter to secure their place in the summit clash. Dhoni attended the game alongside his wife, Sakshi, while several well-known personalities from the entertainment industry, including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Anil Kapoor, were also spotted enjoying the match from the stands. Notably, Indian cricketers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma were among those present at the stadium to support the national team in Wankhede.

Notably, Rohit Sharma, who is also the official ambassador of the tournament, arrived in Ahmedabad on Sunday afternoon to be part of the grand occasion. The two former captains walked onto the field carrying the coveted trophy ahead of the summit clash between India and New Zealand at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. Alongside ICC chairman Jay Shah, the two legendary leaders brought the glittering T20 World Cup trophy to the centre of the stadium.

Amit Shah enjoys the final with family
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also made a notable appearance at the final. Accompanied by his wife, son Jay Shah, the chairman of the International Cricket Council, daughter-in-law, and grandson, Shah was warmly received by fans and the media as he entered the stadium.
The senior BJP leader took his seat in the VIP gallery just as Team India began their spectacular batting onslaught. Shah and his family were seen enthusiastically cheering for every boundary, sharing smiles and applause with the crowd. At one point, Shah was spotted holding his grandson on his lap, gesturing and clapping as Abhishek Sharma smashed the fastest fifty of the tournament.
