Reflecting on the previous edition, the Gujarat Giants faced a challenging campaign, languishing at the bottom after securing just two victories in the group stage.

The team management and coaching staff, in a bid to revamp their fortunes, meticulously curated the Gujarat Giants squad 2024 during the WPL player auction event held last month. Opting for strategic retentions, the team has locked in key players from the previous season, including Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney, Dayalan Hemalatha, Harleen Deol, Laura Wolvaardt, Shabnam Shakil, Sneh Rana, and Tanuja Kanwer. These seasoned campaigners are expected to play pivotal roles in the team’s resurgence.

Bolstering the squad further, the Giants made significant acquisitions during the WPL 2024 Auction. Notable additions include Veda Krishnamurthy, Phoebe Litchfield, Trisha Poojitha, Meghna Singh, Kashvee Gautam, Kathryn Bryce, Mannat Kashyap, Tarannum Pathan, Priya Mishra, and Lauren Cheatle. Gearing up for their inaugural clash, the Gujarat Giants are set to face off against the Mumbai Indians on the third day of the season, with all matches scheduled for a 7:30 PM IST kick-off. In a departure from the previous season, this edition opts for single fixtures, eliminating doubleheaders. The league phase will witness each team engaging in eight matches in a double round-robin format. The top three teams, determined by points table standings, will advance to the playoffs, ensuring a thrilling competition.
