WI vs PAK 2025: West Indies vs Pakistan, 1st ODI Match Preview
All three T20I games were quite closely-contested contests.
The white-ball series moves into its 50-over leg as the West Indies (WI) will take on Pakistan (PAK) in the first ODI of the three-match series. This opening ODI will be played on Friday, August 8 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.
The visiting Pakistani side won the T20I series by a 1-2 margin. All three games were quite closely-contested encounters. The touring team won the first and third matches by 14 and 13 runs, respectively. Jason Holder starred with an all-round showing in the sole match in which the Caribbean emerged victorious. The hosts will certainly want to open on a stronger note to take the revenge for the 20-over assignment.
Alzarri Joseph has been rested due to workload management, and Romario Shepherd comes in for the pacer. As for Pakistan, Saim Ayub has made a comeback to the squad after returning to full fitness post recovering from a fractured ankle he sustained earlier this year. They will be looking to make a mark in the ODIs as well with a win on Friday.

Pitch Report
The venue at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad has not been among the easiest places to bat on. The pace bowlers from both the squads are expected to get some early assistance. Spinners might come into play when the surface gets older and the ball loses its natural shine as the game progresses.
