Established in 1916, the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, commonly known as the Chepauk Stadium, is one of the oldest cricket stadiums in India. Located in the southern part of the country, the stadium is the home ground of five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The venue is all set to host its fourth match of the IPL 2024 season when Ruturaj Gaikwad and his team take on KL Rahul's Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), on Tuesday, April 23. Notably, this time Chepauk got the right to host two important clashes, Qualifier 2 and Final, respectively. 

CSK and LSG are set to meet for the second time this season, with the former having the last laugh in the previous encounter after a comprehensive eight-wicket win in Lucknow. Both teams have played seven matches so far and are fourth (CSK) and fifth (LSG) in the points table with four wins each.

Speaking of the IPL journey the iconic venue has witnessed, so far 79 IPL matches have been played at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The first match at this venue was on 23 April 2008 between CSK and their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI). Matthew Hayden’s 81, Suresh Raina’s half-century and MS Dhoni’s fiery finish helped them post 208/5 on the board. MI fought well in reply but fell short by just six runs.
