Shree Charani's T20I debut for India Women was as impressive as it could get. Her four-wicket haul (4/12 in 3.5 overs) dismantled England Women in the first T20I of the ongoing series. The hosts were bowled out for a paltry 113 in 14.5 overs as India emerged triumphant by 97 runs.

The 20-year-old became only the second Indian to bag a four-fer on Women’s T20I debut after Sravanthi Naidu’s 4/9 in three overs against Bangladesh Women at Cox's Bazar in March 2014. Charani's victims at Trent Bridge were Alice Capsey (five off six), Sophie Ecclestone (one off four), Nat Sciver-Brunt (66 off 42), and Lauren Bell (two off four).

Indian bowlers to bag a four-fer on Women’s T20I debut:

Player Opposition Year Venue Figures Result
Sravanthi Naidu Bangladesh Women 2014 Cox Bazar 4/9 (3) IND-W won by 16 runs
Shree Charani England Women 2025 Trent Bridge 4/9 (3.5) IND-W won by 95 runs

Coming to the game, IND-W put on a show after being asked to bat first. Smriti Mandhana, leading the side in Harmanpreet Kaur's absence due to a head injury sustained in the warm-up game, registered her maiden T20I ton (112 off 62) to power the team to a 210/5 in their quota of 20 overs. Harleen Deol (43 off 23) was involved in a 94-run stand for the second wicket off just 45 balls with Smriti.

Apart from skipper, Sciver-Brunt, no one from England really gave a proper fight with the bat. The English innings comprised of only one six and 12 fours. Out of those 12, 10 fours were scored by Sciver-Brunt herself. Deepti Sharma (2/32 in three overs) and Radha Yadav (2/15 in two overs) were amongst the wickets too. India inflicted the heaviest defeat for England in terms of runs in women's T20Is.
