The Men in Blue scripted their seventh consecutive ODI series victory at home
India pacers, especially Mohammed Shami, broke the back of New Zealand’s top order as the Kiwis found themselves at 15/5 eventually getting bowled out for a paltry 108 and losing the second ODI in Raipur by eight wickets. Shami took 3/18 in his six-over spell while Hardik Pandya took two wickets as the Men in Blue thrashed the visitors to seal the series 2-0 with one game to go.
Speaking about how the game panned out, skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field first. The Black Caps got blown away against the mighty bowling attack of team India in Raipur’s first-ever international match.
Hard-hitting batter Glenn Phillips top-scored for his side with his innings of 36 while Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner scored 22 and 27 runs respectively. Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur also picked up a wicket each as the tourists suffered their third-lowest total against India.
In a small-run chase, Rohit made 51 off 50 while his opening partner Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 40 to guide his side to a comfortable victory in just 20.1 overs. Courtesy of the win, India registered their seventh successive series victory on home soil. For his match-winning spell, Shami grabbed the Player of the Match award.
