IPL 2025: GT vs SRH, Match 51: Stats Review of player records and achieved milestones
GT registered a clinical win over SRH in Ahmedabad.
Hosts Gujarat Titans (GT) further compounded Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) problems by registering a comprehensive 38-run win at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The win strengthened GT's already strong position in the IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League), while leaving SRH at a stage where one more loss would decisively eliminate them.
GT were put in at their home ground and didn’t seem to mind one bit. Orange Cap holder Sai Sudharsan (48 off 23) and Shubman Gill (76 off 38) gave the hosts a great start. Jos Buttler (64 off 37) continued the good work alongside Gill, but GT’s finishing was lacklustre. Despite that, they posted 224.
Abhishek Sharma (74 off 41) was the only SRH batter to show any fight as Purple Cap holder Prasidh Krishna (2/19) and Mohammed Siraj (2/33) did what they do best and delivered GT their seventh win of the season. Nitish Reddy and Pat Cummins struck some boundaries towards the end, but that only salvaged some pride for the visitors.
IPL 2025: What if RCB vs CSK at Chinnaswamy is washed out?
Here are the most important numbers from the match:
3 – Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan are now the third pair of batters to aggregate 1,000 partnership runs at a single stadium in the IPL. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers put together 1,360 runs at Bengaluru, while Kohli combined with Chris Gayle to post 1,349 at that venue as well.
1 – Since they first batted together in 2022, no pair has recorded more 50+ partnerships than Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan (15). Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis also have 15 fifty-plus stands in that time frame, but they batted together 41 times, compared to just 28 by the GT duo.
1 – 82/0 is GT’s highest score in the powerplay in the IPL, surpassing the 78/0 they posted against LSG in 2023.
18, 3, 4 – Jos Buttler became the 18th batter to aggregate 4,000 runs in the IPL. By balls faced, he is the third-fastest to the milestone. Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers both reached it in 2,658 balls, while Buttler did it in 2,675. He overtook Suryakumar Yadav, who reached the mark earlier this season in 2,714 balls. Buttler is also the fourth-fastest to 4,000 IPL runs by innings, taking 116 innings—only behind KL Rahul (105), Chris Gayle (112), and David Warner (114).
1 – Among bowlers who have bowled a minimum of 35 overs in IPL 2025, Prasidh Krishna has the best bowling average, the third-best economy, and the second-best strike rate. He is the only player to feature in the top five of all three metrics.
