The former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman is celebrating his 43rd birthday and all the former cricketers have poured in their wishes for him. The classy player has become a commentator now and currently is busy doing his job in the ongoing limited-overs series between India and New Zealand. He is also the mentor of the franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Interestingly, Ashish Nehra who is the part of SRH is also bidding adieu to the international cricket on the same day.

The Hyderabad born cricketer made his debut in 1996 against South Africa in Ahmedabad. Since then he played some magnificent knocks for India with the help of his magical wristy flicks. His innings of 281 against Australia at Eden Gardens in Kolkata is still touted as one of the best knocks in Test cricket ever. Though he could not achieve remarkable feats in the limited overs format, he is considered as one of the big five cricketers in Indian cricket in the early 2000s.

Sachin spills out a secret

The cricketing fraternity wished VVS Laxman on his special day on social media website Twitter. It was heartening to see that all the former and current Indian cricketers including the foreign players spared their time to wish the very very special cricketer. Virender Sehwag was once again at his sarcastic best and dedicated a Bollywood song ‘Chittiyan Kalaiyan’ to the birthday boy referring to his masterful wrist work with the bat while playing his shots.

On the other hand, another member of the ‘big five’ Sachin Tendulkar spilled out the secret of his ability to score the abundance of runs with his willow. He revealed that Laxman used to take a shower and eat an apple before going out to bat during his illustrious career. The former Australian cricketer Jason Gillespie, in his reply to Sehwag’s tweet, wished the special cricketer and admitted that he hasn’t forgotten his knock of 281 at the Eden Gardens. Co-incidentally, Gillespie was at the receiving end of that masterclass and had bowled his heart out in his attempt to dismiss Laxman.

Here’s how the cricketing world wished the very very special Laxman:
