Cricketing Trends on Social Media Today

Twitter on Friday erupted after India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma was awarded Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. The list was approved by the Sports Ministry on Friday and congratulatory wishes poured in for the explosive opener in no time. Before Rohit, only three more Indian cricketers– Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have received India’s highest sporting honour. Mumbai Indians also shared an adorable picture with daughter Samaira and wife Ritika as they left to UAE for IPL 2020. Earlier, Rohit had posted a picture on Instagram of Samaira organising his cricket kit. Meanwhile, many franchises shared photos of their players boarding the UAE flight. Royal Challengers Bangalore also shared a group photo of all their players in flight. However, as the squad was wearing masks and face shields, skipper Virat Kohli wasn’t spotted in the picture. Kohli himself shared a photo on his social media handles after landing in UAE. Delhi Capitals also shared clips and videos of their players before they checked in the flight to UAE. The Delhi franchise also shared a video featuring skipper Shreyas Iyer where he expressed his excitement to get back on the field and lead the franchise to its maiden IPL trophy. 1.
