David Warner, Glenn Maxwell and Usman Khawaja already finding new jobs
Australian vice-captain David Warner found the memes really funny as he lauded it. He posted a picture of him taking care of Ricky Ponting's greyhounds.
The pay dispute between Cricket Australia (CA) and the Australian Cricketers Association (ACA) has taken another turn. As the deadline passed today, it was confirmed that 230 players are unemployed now. CA and the ACA failed to reach any conclusion leaving players unconfirmed about their future and also putting upcoming international fixtures in doubt.
While a meeting is expected to be held tomorrow where the players would supposedly address their concerns, it seems highly unlikely that a solution may come out. Cricket Australia seems quite firm regarding their decision of revenue sharing while the ACA president Greg Dyer has termed it as ādivide and ruleā policy by CA.
āReasonable young men and women have been set upon by their employer with tactics not seen before in Australian sport,ā Dyer said. The ACA noted in a statement the game is in the āworst state of uncertainty since the days of World Series Cricketā.
Since today is 1st July and Australian cricketers are effectively unemployed from today, the likes of David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc and Usman Khawaja had hilarious takes on the current situation. The trio appeared to be in some urgency to find another job as their contracts were scrapped.
Here are their Instagram posts:
Maxwell wrote- āEven though weāre now unemployed, I thought it would be a good idea to keep working on my slog sweep, just incase the MOU gets done soonā¦ā
Mitchell Starc shared a picture of him playing golf on Instagram saying, āThought Iād better give another profession a go⦠#unemployed Celtic Manor yet to disappoint.. Absolute treat ????ā³ļøā

On the other hand, the Australian vice-captain David Warner found the memes really funny as he lauded it. He posted a picture of him taking care of Ricky Pontingās greyhounds on Instagram with the caption: āThis is outstanding ??. Love the humour. @usman_khawajy can you help me ??ā

While the jokes may continue for the moment, letās hope Cricket Australia resolves their differences as quickly as possible before it further ruptures their image.
