The sixth edition of PSL has already kicked off in Abu Dhabi and June 9 saw action between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars. Losing the game by five wickets, it didn’t turn out to be a great outing for Islamabad. In addition to this, their all-rounder Faheem Ashraf sustained a heavy finger injury due to which he is expected to miss upcoming matches of the PSL.

As per the reports, Faheem was already done with his two overs when he suffered the injury and left the field immediately. It was later revealed that the all-rounder suffered a split between his thumb and index finger owing to which he received five stitches on the deep cut.

Islamabad United physio opens up on Faheem Ashraf’s condition

“Faheem suffered a laceration to the base of the left thumb. Suturing was completed in the ER, he was given antibiotics and paracetamol, and discharged into our care,” stated Islamabad United physio, Jason Pilgrim as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Talking about the match, Ashraf was already done with his two overs and sent back Fakhar Zaman when he suffered the injury. He left the field and received five stitches on his hand before joining back the game again. Though he missed a major portion of the game due to his deep cut, he was allowed by the umpires to complete his remaining two overs owing to the extraordinary circumstance. He finished his spell of four overs by conceding 31 runs.

He has been one of the vital players for Islamabad since 2018 and has completed 36 games with them at an average of 18.88 so far. His average stands to be the second-best in the league and he is the fourth-highest wicket-taker of PSL with 51 scalps under his belt. Talking about the results of the game, Qalandars stole the show on the back of heroics by Rashid Khan and James Faulkner.

He took a wicket for his team while conceding at an impressive 2.25. He also played a quickfire inning of 15 off 5.
