Hobart Hurricanes (HUR) will take on Sydney Sixers (SIX) in the fifth match of the BBL 2023-24 on Monday (December 11) at the North Tasmania Cricket Association Ground in Launceston. It will be the second game of the season for the Sixers, while the Hurricanes will be featuring in their first match.
Hurricanes won six out of 14 games last season and finished in sixth position. Nathan Ellis has been named the skipper of the side for this season, and he has replaced Matthew Wade. Sam Hain, Sam Heazlett, Corey Anderson, Nikhil Chaudhary, Liam Guthrie, Peter Hatzoglou, and Chris Jordan have been added to the squad for this season.
Sixers posted a total of 175 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs against Melbourne Renegades in their previous game. Steven Smith scored 61 runs off 42 deliveries and was the highest scorer. Moises Henriques made 40 runs off 32 deliveries and provided a crucial touch to the innings. Renegades did well but fell short of the target by a mere eight runs. Ben Dwarshuis was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets for 36 runs in three overs.
