We witnessed a thrilling encounter between India and Sri Lanka where the so-called ‘underdogs’ (Sri Lanka) managed to upstage India by 7 wickets. For India, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar set the tone for coming batsmen as they put up 138 runs together. After two quick wickets, Shikhar Dhawan and M S Dhoni ensured that India got past the 300 mark.

In 50 overs, India managed to put mammoth 321 runs on the board, allowing their bowlers a perfect platform to defend it. However, Sri Lanka had their plans set and their first wicket partnership between Danushka Gunathilaka and Kusal Mendis made sure that Sri Lanka goes past the total.

Four bookies arrested by Delhi Police:

The upset not only came to the Indian team but also to the people who were allegedly involved in gambling. If the reports are to be believed, Delhi police arrested four bookies after India and Sri Lanka’s encounter.

The police claimed that it shattered a racket of digital gambling and recovered a total of 39 mobile phones, 40,000 rupees cash, 4 laptops, and 10 registers with details of the stake money yesterday.

Police said that the racket was operated from a rented accommodation in Keshav Puram area of northwest Delhi. As gambling isn’t legal in India, an FIR has been lodged against four bookies involved in it under Gambling Act.

All four bookies are supposed to be the resident of Delhi and were identified as Kumar Gupta (39), Vijay Kumar (47), Durga Prasad Goyal (47) and Raju Gupta (36).

During the interrogation, the accused revealed that they were doing so to earn quick and easy money and were involved in the same from last three-four years, said the Delhi Commissioner of Police (Milind Mahadeo Dumbere).

He further went on to say that they (bookies) kept changing their location to escape from the clutches of law.

He concluded by saying that Delhi police is working regressively with the full fortitude to investigate the whole racket.
