Virender Sehwag heaps praises on the India U19 seamers

The Indian U19 team started off their World Cup campaign with a splendid victory. Defeating the Aussies by a huge margin of 100 runs, Prithvi Shaw and team impressed everyone with their all-round performance. Winning the toss, India decided to bat first. Openers Shaw and Manjot Kalra added 180 runs for the first wicket and provided the team with a brilliant start. However, it was the seamers which impressed the former India cricketer Virender Sehwag the most who heaped praises on them. India posted a massive 328 on board losing seven wickets at the end of fifty overs. Prithvi and Manjot had to settle with half-centuries as missed out their hundreds. While Prithvi piled up 94 runs, his partner Manjot scored 86. After losing Prithvi in the 30th over, Shubman Gill took over the responsibility from his skipper. He scored a crucial 63, helping the team secure a reasonable total. With a short cameo from Abhishek Sharma, India posted a massive score. However, it was not just the batsmen who’ve grabbed all the limelight, the Indian seamers have done well too. Their consistent speeds came off as a surprise package to almost everyone. The Indian pacers managed to clock 140’s quite regularly. With average speeds of 143.6 and 141.2, Kamlesh and Mavi were faster than the Australian seamers. Young Rajasthani pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti was the pick of the bowlers with remarkable figures of 3-29 in his 7 overs. He bowled at speeds crossing 140 clicks throughout his first over. The seamer didn’t seem to try too hard at generating high speeds. The Rajasthani seamer touched 146 bowling his fifth ball of the game, which is too good considering the Indian pace standards. However, it wasn’t just him, Shivam Mavi and Ishan Porel also bowled at decent speeds. Kamlesh and Mavi scalped three wickets each.
