The England Lions kicked off their last match on this tour with the 2nd unofficial Test against the hosts. After the first match in the longer format ended in a draw, KL Rahul won the toss in the second and opted to bat first. It was him and his opening partner Abhimanyu Easwaran who led the way for India A on the first day’s play.

The duo added a fabulous opening partnership together and was a treat to watch. At the close of play, India A put up 282 runs in 84.5 overs. Karun Nair with a fresh opening partner will walk out to bat on the second day to extend the score as much as possible.

KL Rahul misses out on the three-figure mark yet again

Playing domestic cricket is doing a world of good for KL Rahul. He struggled to put the bat on the ball until a while ago but he is slowly gaining his confidence back. It was never a question about his ability or technique, but he piled up a lot of pressure on himself after a string of low scores. Now, having got his faith back, he will even be eyeing at making a come back into the Indian team for the Australia series.

KL Rahul scored 81 runs in the match and added 178 runs together with Abhimanyu. But, he failed to convert the brilliant innings into three figures yet again. However, Abhimanyu Easwaran didn’t do that mistake and reached his century. He scored 117 runs before he was dismissed. Priyank Panchal also looked good with an 88-ball 50.

As soon as his wicket fell, the umpires decided to call it a day. It could be due to the poor lighting that might have disturbed his concentration. Tom Bailey went through the gate and got him clean bowled. Karun Nair is unbeaten on 14 runs.

Brief Scores:

India A, 1st Innings: 282/3 in 84.5 overs (Abhimanyu Easwaran 117, KL Rahul 81, Zak Chappell 1/32)
