Match Details:

The 2nd game of the 3-match T20I series between India and Bangladesh will be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. The match starts at 7:00 PM local time (IST) (1:30 PM GMT).

This game can be viewed on Star Sports 1/1 HD, Star Sports 1 Hindi/1 HD Hindi, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star Sports 1 Kannada, Star Sports 1 Bangla and Star Sports Select 1/1 HD. Live streaming available on Hotstar.

Preview:

Bangladesh sort of stunned India in Delhi where they registered their maiden T20I win over the Indian team in their 9th attempt. This helped the Bangla team to take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. This will now put extra pressure on India who hasn’t got favourable results in the T20I format recently. Their home record in this format this year has been disastrous as they won only one of the five matches.

India is already suffering big in T20Is due to its outdated batting approach. The aggressive batters KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant left their natural game due to pressure from management. On the other hand, Bangladesh will look to win at least one of the next two matches. This will help Bangladesh in gaining a lot of confidence as a series win without both Tamim and Shakib was never imagined.

Weather Condition/Report:

The Rajkot stadium is expected to be under the covers for the majority of Wednesday. However, on Thursday, we could see clouds here and there in the skies which might not cause rain.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The SCA Stadium in Rajkot hosted two T20Is and both of them producing 190+ totals. The tracks here get slow down by halfway stage of 2nd innings and hence the toss winning team likes to bat first despite the dew factor. The long boundaries here could make like tough for the batsmen. The curator also spoke about developing a flat track for this match as a high-scoring game is set to be on cards.

Average first innings score: 199 (T20I matches)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 1, Lost – 1

Injury and Availability:

Mohammad Mithun suffered an injury on his face during a practice session on Tuesday.

Top Picks:

Shreyas Iyer could make difference due to his striking ability against the spinners. With majority overs from Bangladesh are bowled by the spinners, he could match Rohit Sharma’s fantasy potential among Indians for this game. The Indian skipper will be no less than an injured Tiger after the defeat in the first and would be determined to bounce back with a big knock.

Mushfiqur Rahim has always performed whenever Bangladesh missed the experience of Tamim and Shakib. Afif Hossain has done well in the shorter format in recent matches for Bangladesh. He will be a must pick alongside Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar from bowlers/all-rounders.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Captain – Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Mushfiqur Rahim

Vice-Captain – Shikhar Dhawan, Soumya Sarkar, Afif Hossain

The need of the hour could bring the best out of Rohit Sharma who could be the top performer on Thursday.

Bowlers – Aminul Islam, Shafiul Islam, Yuzvendra Chahal

All-Rounders – Washington Sundar, Afif Hossain

Bowlers – Mustafizur Rahman, Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Chahar

Expert Advice:

Rohit Sharma has an interesting record as captain. In the previous 3-match T20I series, Rohit got two centuries while batting first in the 2nd match of the series. In another series, while chasing, he got a match-winning fifty in the 2nd game of the series. In fact, Rohit’s maiden ODI double ton as skipper came in the 2nd game of a series after India lost in the first.

The Rajkot track is expected to be flat and the Indian skipper could be seen producing a big knock. The only thing that goes against Rohit’s favour is that Thursday’s match will be his 100th T20I appearance. Rohit doesn’t have a great record of performing in milestone matches.

Probable Winners:

India is expected to level the series with a comfortable win over Bangladesh.
