The fourth ODI between India and Windies at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai turned out to be a drab affair as the Men in Blue emerged victorious by 224 runs. Moreover, Virat Kohli’s men also took an unassailable lead in the series with one match left in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday, November 1. In the meantime, a bizarre incident took place at the venue.

The occurring panned out at Gate Number 5, Block Number 14 after India posted 377 runs in their allotted 50 overs. Following the conclusion of the innings, the audience rushed in search of water. Many purchased water bottles of Rs 20 for Rs 40, but, a number of them were left upset for the reason that there wasn’t any free drinking water as per reports in Times Now.

The shambolic incident

On asking the vendor about the bottles by the crowd, he said that he only had soft drinks. The same outraged the supporters and they attacked the vendor. Subsequently, they looted all the soft drink bottles from his drum. Surprisingly, the police didn’t do their bit for stopping the chaos. After the turmoil, the CCI officials arranged 20 litres water bottles.

It has also been learned that the CCI officials first wanted the sold ones to be consumed. The CCI then opened the water bottles and gave away cups and glasses to the crowd. However, by then it was all too late. The venue hosted its first 50-overs international match after a gap of 12 years and the incident certainly won’t make the authorities proud by any means.

As far as cricket is concerned, the Indian batsmen entertained the crowd. Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu scored centuries to rack up the massive score for the hosts. During the Windies run-chase, the likes of left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed and chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav picked up three wickets to rip the heart out of the opposition batting lineup.
