IPL 2018: Veteran cricketer joins IPL commentary team for the season
Last year, the speedster was associated with the Rising Pune Supergiant.
The 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to get underway. With the tournament ready to kick off, the formal announcements about the tournament are rolling out each day. Recently, the organizers announced that close to 80 members will be on the commentary panel this year for the tournament. In a recent update, a veteran cricketer has joined the comm box as well. He is Ashok Dinda.
Ashok Dinda is not a new name for the Indian cricket fans. Dinda has been around for quite some time now. He is one of the experienced campaigners in the Indian domestic circuit. Dinda serves the Bengal team in the domestic cricket. Last year, the speedster was associated with the Rising Pune Supergiant. However, he had a forgetful time with the ball in the tournament.
At the 2018 IPL auctions, he found no takers. Well, the hope is not lost yet. He might be signed by some franchise during the course of the tournament if any team needs a replacement. That, for now, seems like a far cry. For now, Ashok Dinda has found a new role for the upcoming season. He is set to make his official commentary debut. Dinda has been signed by the Star network.
This year, the IPL coverage will be in six languages. And Dinda will be a part of the Bengali coverage of the tournament. He will commentate in Bengali this season. The official social media handle of the Star network confirmed the news with a tweet and a promo video on the micro blogging site Twitter. Earlier, they had shared the promo video for Telugu coverage as well.
