IPL 2019: Manoj Tiwary highlights the importance of Hardik Pandya in the Mumbai Indians setup

Yesterday, Mumbai Indians (MI), captained by Rohit Sharma, comprehensively beat the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 37 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Moreover, they also garnered their 100th win in the cash-rich and prestigious T20 tournament. Hardik Pandya, the 25-year-old all-rounder, was rightly adjudged as the Player of the Match, for his stupendous performance.
The Baroda cricketer scored 25 runs off eight balls with one four and three sixes. His whirlwind knock propelled MI’s score to 170 for five in 20 overs. While bowling, the youngster returned with impressive figures of 4-0-20-3 and was the hosts’ standout bowler. He got his first wicket in the form of MS Dhoni and then went on to dismiss the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Deepak Chahar.
His spell didn’t allow the Super Kings to get even close to the target set by the home team. Dhoni’s wicket was at a stage when the veteran had stitched together a stand of 54 runs with Kedar Jadhav to bring the Super Kings back into the contest. With the victory, Mumbai also remain as one of the few teams to have a superior head-to-head record against the might of CSK.
Manoj Tiwary praises Hardik Pandya and MI
In the meantime, Manoj Tiwary, who went unsold in the auction after registering himself at a base price of INR 50 lakhs, congratulated Mumbai for rolling over the defending champions. Moreover, he also lauded Hardik for his all-round show at the iconic venue. Tiwary mentioned that Pandya’s presence can help any team in forming their team combination.
The Bengal cricketer took to Twitter and wrote, “Great win last night 4 d @mipaltan against d defending champions. If u hav a fast bowling all rounder in ur side like @hardikpandya7 den it’s easy 2 make d combination of a team nd #MI has many allrounders. Wel played @surya_14kumar Keep it goin brother@IPL @StarSportsIndia,”
