The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have finally managed to add points to their name in this season by defeating the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). Chris Gayle’s unbeaten 99 powered the home team to 173/4 as no other KXIP batsman scored even 20. The chase belonged to Virat Kohli (67) and AB de Villiers (59*) who added 85 runs for the 2nd wicket in 11.4 overs. Later, De Villiers finished off the chase as he put on an unbeaten 46-run stand with Marcus Stoinis (28*) in only 3.5 overs.

Here are all the major stats and numbers from the RCB’s maiden win of the 2019 IPL:

Streaks of both the teams come to an end:

7 – The Kings XI Punjab’s 7-match winning streak in the IPL at their home ground in Mohali came to an end with the defeat against RCB. Their last defeat at this venue came against the Gujarat Lions in May 2017. KXIP have not won as many as seven in a row in the IPL at any venue before this streak.

7 – This victory brought an end to RCB’s 7-match losing streak in the IPL. Their last win in the IPL came against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous season at home. RCB lost their last league game of 2018 and their first six matches in 2019.

One short of yet another ton:

99* – Chris Gayle became only the 2nd player to remain unbeaten on 99 in the IPL. Suresh Raina recorded the first such instance during the 2013 season. Virat Kohli also in 2013 and Prithvi Shaw earlier this year are the two players to be dismissed on 99 in the league.

A milestone fifty for Gayle:
