Finally!! The blockbuster game has lived up to its billing. This time the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have managed to win the thriller dramatically by just 1 run. They survived a massive scare from MS Dhoni – the master of the finishers – who took it to the last over and once again backed himself to win the game for his team. However, it was not to be thanks to Parthiv Patel’s accurate throw.

Te chase began shockingly for RCB. Dale Steyn has infused some real energy into their bowling attack and the superstar sent back Shane Watson and Suresh Raina in the first over itself. Even Faf du Plessis and Kedar Jadhav were dismissed inside the powerplay as CSK were down and out at 28/4 in the sixth over. This is where MS Dhoni came out to bat along with Ambati Rayudu.

The two added 55 runs for the fifth wicket and just when they were looking dangerous, Rayudu was castled by Yuzvendra Chahal. Ravindra Jadeja was involved in a rare mix-up to get run-out as things went down the wire. Dhoni then, despite being Dwayne Bravo at the other end.

He backed himself to get 26 runs in the final over and Umesh Yadav was given the responsibility. The pace bowler couldn’t sustain the pressure as the veteran brought all his experience to the fore to smack 16 runs in the first three balls and bring it down to 10 off the last 3. It came down to two runs off the final ball. But he missed the slower delivery from Umesh and Parthiv managed to run Shardul Thakur out just by a margin to help RCB win the thriller.

RCB struggle but post a competitive total

The last match’s centurion Virat Kohli was snaffled by Deepak Chahar early in the innings after RCB lost the toss and were put in to bat first. AB de Villiers had fun for some time before getting out to Ravindra Jadeja. After his wicket, though many felt that the RCB will not be able to score many runs. But Parthiv Patel took the responsibility and played a sensible knock.

He scored a half-century and stitched a partnership with Akhsdeep Nath and then Marcus Stoinis played a handy knock. However, the finishing touches were given by Moeen Ali who strangely was sent at number seven on the day. But his 16-ball 26 helped RCB cross the 160-run mark. They posted 161 runs on the board after 20 overs which many felt was under-par.

However, the game went right down to the wire with the master of the finishers missing out just narrowly just by 1 run. RCB have managed to win their third match of the season and they somehow manage to stay alive in the season.
