IPL 2019: Rohit Sharma keeps his promise to Kedar Jadhav, who had won the game against MI in last edition
MI lost to CSK when they met back in 2018 in the tournament opening match.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) rivalry is one for the ages and has seen some of the best matches in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 tournament. Both teams have met in the finals of the tournament and in the opening matches as well and have produced classics.
One such classic match was the opening match of the Indian Premier League 2018 opening match which was played at the Wankhede Stadium and saw Chennai Super Kings winning the match by just one wicket thanks to the brilliance of Kedar Jadhav.
Mumbai Indians had put up 165/4 batting first with help of scores in the 40s by Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Krunal Pandya. In the chase, CSK faltered majorly thanks to three wickets from debutant Mayank Markande, who removed the likes of MS Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu and Deepak Chahar. However, Dwayne Bravo (68 in 30) and a limping Kedar Jadhav (24*) took the team to an improbable win in last over, where Jadhav hit Mustafizur Rahman for a six and a four to win.

Kedar Jadhav was the hero of that match for the Chennai Super Kings’ fans, while Bravo won the Man of the Match award. Jadhav had injured his hamstring while taking a run and had to retire hurt, but came out when he was most required and finished the match. This also meant that he was ruled out of the rest of the tournament.
He has encapsulated that moment in an Instagram post with a caption, “that match-sealing six”. Rohit Sharma had commented on his post that he will see him the next time he visits Wankhede.
Well, Rohit had the last laugh when CSK visited MI in IPL 2019. MI scored 170 batting first with Suryakumar making 59, Krunal making 42 and Hardik Pandya (25* in 8 balls) and Pollard (17*) playing amazing cameos.
During the chase, CSK capitulated in front of three wickets each from Lasith Malinga (3/34) and Hardik Pandya (3/20) and managed just 133/8 in 20 overs. Kedar Jadhav made 58 in 54 balls.
