IPL 2019: Sunrisers Hyderabad full squad after the auction
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have 20 players in the squad ahead of the IPL Player Auction 2019 including six overseas players.
Sunrisers Hyderabad released as many as nine players ahead of the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) including Shikhar Dhawan who was traded to the Delhi Daredevils, now the Delhi Capitals. The franchise will have to find a proper replacement for the Indian opener. The team managed by Tom Moody will have a headache when David Warner returns.
They will have to choose between the Australian and Kane Williamson, who led SRH to the final in the previous edition. The Sunrisers have five player slots available to fill at the Player Auction with a salary cap of Rs 9.7 crore remaining. The Hyderabad franchise can aim for a maximum of two overseas players. The SRH team will be hoping to get a star wicketkeeper at the auction table.
Sunrisers bag three players at the auctions:
As expected, the Sunrisers Hyderabad went for the wicketkeeping options at the auction table. They bought back Wriddhiman Saha for 1.2 crores INR after sneaking an in-form Jonny Bairstow for only 2.2 crores INR. The franchise spent a whopping five crores INR alone on Saha last season but got Saha and Bairstow in that amount.
Infact, the SRH team also bought in Martin Guptill as a backup opener at the auction. They didn’t have to strain much in buying the dangerous batsman as the New Zealand player was sold to SRH at his base price of 1 crore INR. The Hyderabad franchise had a maximum of five slots to fill but bought only three players including two overseas players and reached the squad limit for foreigners.
