MS Dhoni has served Team India for more than a decade and became an eternal part of Indian cricket. He is regarded as one of the best Indian captains and also one of the best finishers that World Cricket has ever seen. Dhoni turned 38 this year in July and his retirement is also not far but it looks pretty difficult for BCCI to replace the former Indian captain.

The Ranchi-born cricketer has taken a break from international cricket and the reports say, that he has given time to the board to prepare youngsters as his replacement but BCCI has failed till now in their quest to find a perfect replacement of MS Dhoni. They have given multiple chances to Rishabh Pant but the Delhiite has failed until now to perform well for the team. Now, Parthiv Patel, who is currently leading Gujarat in Vijay Hazare Trophy has his say over MS Dhoni.

Parthiv Patel opines on MS Dhoni

Parthiv Patel, who is the captain of Gujarat, has led his team to win in two out two matches in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019. He led from the front against Madhya Pradesh and played a brilliant inning of 90. According to Parthiv, it will never be easy to replace MS Dhoni or replicate his performances on the international stage for that long.

“That’s how it is. When you are trying to represent India, you are fighting with 27 keepers and it is never easy. Obviously what MS has done for India is phenomenal and his achievements are there for everyone to see. As someone who is trying to take the place of the captain, it is always difficult. So you just don’t worry about these things,” Parthiv Patel said as quoted by Sportstar.

The Gujarat skipper said that it’s been 18-19 years since he is playing first-class cricket for Gujarat and now he has the experience of leading the team as well which has given him a new dimension and will try to help the new youngsters.

“I knew I understand the game well because I have the experience of leading Gujarat for a while now. It does help you because you have access to so much information and you see the game differently. You see a lot of player-to-player analysis. I also want to help youngsters as much as I can do and try to put in a big performance every time I go out,” Parthiv added.

Parthiv Patel has featured in 25 Tests and 37 ODIs and has scored more than 1500 runs across all the formats and his last appearance for India came during the 3rd Test against South Africa in Johannesburg.
