While Ravindra Jadeja continues to make merry on the cricket field, his wife Rivaba Jadeja is busy building her career in a different field – politics. In October last year, Rivaba had joined Karni Sena and was appointed the President of Women’s wing in Gujarat. At that time, she had played down her chances of joining politics, insisting that she primarily wanted to do something good for the community.

“I can’t say anything with certainty at this stage. I would like to make a contribution to the capacity for which my community has selected me. You may call this a beginning. I have lots of good plans for our community and our country in coming days. Presently, my focus is social service,” she had said in October.

Well, almost four months after that proclamation, Rivaba joined Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Sunday as per reports in The Indian Express. She joined the party in presence of Gujarat Agriculture Minister R C Faldu and MP Poonam Madam at Jamnagar in Gujarat. Rivaba has joined the party just months before the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections. She was presented with a saffron scarf as the BJP ministers welcomed her to the party.

Jadeja, meanwhile, is also having a good time on the field. The left-arm spinner has managed to revive his career in white-ball cricket in recent times and recently played in the first ODI against Australia on Saturday. Jadeja had fallen down the pecking order after the emergence of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav but has been with the ODI team since being given a surprise recall during the Asia Cup last year.

Virat Kohli impressed:

India skipper Virat Kohli, meanwhile, was impressed with Jadeja’s performance in the first ODI against Australia. The all-rounder had conceded just 33 runs off his ten overs, helping India restrict the visitors for just 236 for 7.

“Ten overs for less than 35 is brilliant on this pitch (On Jadeja). He set his fields, it was great to see. He was all geared up that ‘I’m gonna finish the game, I just want an opportunity.’ He looks in a great shape and that’s good for the team,” Kohli had said after India beat Australia by six wickets.
