Mark Nicholas hospitalized again as medical condition worsens

After being hospitalized following the conclusion of the first day’s play, Mark Nicholas was once again rushed off to the hospital when he complained of abdominal pain after his post-tea match analysis with Wasim Akram. This is, unfortunately, the second time Nicholas is being taken to the hospital for his complications. Midway through the first day’s play between Australia and Pakistan, the 59-year old was rushed off to the hospital where it was reported that he had suffered from a burst appendix. He also remained to be in high spirits at the hospital following the medical procedures carried out and was expected to make it back into the haven of the commentary box soon after. A statement was released by Channel Nine’s choice of replacement and former Australian batsman Michale Slater. The first few seconds of Slater’s hosting of the analysis began with the former Aussie opener wishing his British compatriot rather well. However, after working for a couple of hours on the third day’s play, Nicholas was once again complaining of abdominal pain. He had just completed an interview with Pakistan bowling legend Wasim Akram before once again complaining of pain. He was stretchered away by the paramedics present at the scene although he appeared to be breathing alright and seemed conscious as well. He was transported from the ground on a stretcher and was taken to Epworth Hospital. It is unclear what the problem is, but Channel Nine is expected to make a statement soon. It was the day when Pakistan had amassed an impressive lead in the first innings following two days that had been marred by rains and wiped out an entire session of play on the second day. However, in spite of all the impressive shots played by Azhar Ali in the 205 he smashed, it was David Warner and Usman Khawaja who stole the show with an impressive partnership that lasted most of the day’s play. Mark Nicholas has been transported out of MCG again on a stretcher.
