Matthew Hayden has expressed his desire to work with the support staff of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the next edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise has a huge fan base not only at home but also throughout the world. Moreover, the fans are elated as CSK is returning to the manifold of IPL after the serving the suspension of two years for its alleged involvement in spot-fixing in 2013. However, it remains to be seen if the management is interested in giving Hayden any role in 2018 season.

Hayden is currently in India covering the ongoing series of the Men in Blue against Sri Lanka. Surprisingly, he is not part of the Ashes commentary panel which has also started in parallel down under. He was part of the CSK setup and played under MS Dhoni who has led the team since its inception. The franchise has already confirmed that Dhoni will continue as the skipper of the team for the ninth consecutive season.

Haydos is available

Matthew Hayden hinted at a possible role with CSK by letting know his availability during the next cricket extravaganza in India. The fan page of CSK ‘Chennai Super Kings Fan Association’ posted an image of Dhoni and Suresh Raina in the traditional outfit and indirectly shared their most wanted retentions in the caption. “No No. These Super Kings aren’t standing in RK Nagar by Election. We just shared as the possible Retentions for Namma @ChennaiIPL. #SuperRetention #SummerIsComing and get ready to #WhistlePodu #CSK,” they tweeted.

The official Twitter handle of Chennai Super Kings then replied with an emoji which clearly indicates there is every possibility that Raina could also be retained by the franchise. Hayden, who is active on social media nowadays, replied to that emoji clearing his availability in a cheeky way. His reply was, “I’m available.”

The retention policy was declared by the Governing Council of IPL earlier this week and it would be interesting to see the players retained by all the franchise. CSK consists of so many superstars and they might have to let go off a few of them or buy them back with Right to Match (RTM) card option in the auction.

Here’s the thread of the convo:

Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan reacted to Hayden’s tweet, saying ‘Nightmare for the bowlers will start again if u r on the field mate”
