Veteran Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has been continously ignored by the national selectors. Raina was hoping to find a place in the Indian side during the packed home season of limited overs cricket this year. However, that did not happen. And by the look of things, it seems that he might not make it to the Indian squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka either.

His current performances in the ongoing edition of the Ranji Trophy are far from being impressive either. Amidst this situation, Suresh Raina completely understands that he has to come back really strong to make it to the national team. In the most recent episode of Breakfast with Champions, Suresh Raina spoke about the same in a conversation with the host Gaurav Kapoor.

He noted that he is very much determined to stage a comeback. Whether the comeback happens immediately or after some time, it will definitely happen, assured the southpaw. He cited the examples of Yuvraj Singh and Ashish Nehra whilst talking about the comebacks. He went to quote that the selectors cannot ignore him for long. They will have to let him play at some stage or the other.

“I have got this passion to get back. Everyone has made a comeback. Yuvraj Singh’s comeback can’t be replicated by anyone, Ashish Nehra played at age of 38 and that has inspired me. If not today then tomorrow, not tomorrow then the day after tomorrow, if not then after 10 days, if not then 10 months after but Khilana to Padega (they have to let me play),” quoted Suresh Raina.

Out of action for almost a year

Interestingly, the last international match that Raina played for India was against England in a T20I fixture earlier this year. He had scored a fifty in that match! It is only ironical to see him sit out of action thereafter. Raina, who recently celebrated his 31st birthday, received wishes from his colleagues who hoped for things to get better for him soon.
