Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has signed a full season contract with County side Surrey for the 2018 season. With his County signing, the all-rounder, in all likelihood, will miss the chance to be a part of the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League. Marsh was a part of the Rising Pune Supergiant franchise in the previous two editions of the IPL. In the limited matches that he has played in the IPL, Mitchell Marsh has found little success.

Also, the injury has seen him miss out on the bulk of action since the last two years. Marsh, the skipper of the Western Australia team, is now eager to perform for Surrey in the County arena. As per the recent quotes in Cricbuzz, Marsh conceded that he is very excited to be a part of the team and is eager to play in the English conditions. He is looking forward to this opportunity.

“I’m extremely excited to join Surrey for the 2018 season. The opportunity to challenge myself in English conditions is something I can’t wait for. I have followed the team closely this year and hopefully I’ll be able to contribute to some silverware, along with helping a young squad grow and improve. The opportunity to work with Michael di Venuto [Head Coach] and Alec Stewart [Director of Cricket] is also very exciting. Bring on 2018!” quoted Mitchell Marsh.

Surrey happy with the new addition

Meanwhile, the Director of Cricket at Surrey County, Alec Stewart, also expressed his happiness with the new joining. He cited Mitchell Marsh as a very talented player who he expects to be a value addition in all forms of the game.

“I’m very pleased to announce the signing of Mitch Marsh, a highly talented, exciting and motivated international all-rounder. His all-round abilities and experience will add great balance and depth to our squad in all formats of the game and I look forward to welcoming him to the Kia Oval for the start of next season,” mentioned Alec Stewart.
