There is a lot of seriousness surrounding Australia’s tour to Pakistan with it being a first since the team last toured the nation way back in the 1998/1999 season. However, a recent incident in the Australian camp has surely lightened the mood that surrounds the tour. It so happened when fast bowler, Pat Cummins, who is seen as arguably one of the best fast bowlers in the world was up against one of Australia’s batting mainstays in Steve Smith, in the Australian nets.

As expected, the contest was intense with both cricketers in their prime. However, when one of Cummins’ short balls failed to land the way, it was intended to, it created a funny moment between the two. The fast bowler delivered the bouncer with all his might, however, the ball did not leave his hand well thus simply sitting up for Smith with no real bounce on offer.

Even though the right-handed batter had to make an effort to get to the pitch of the ball, once he did, Smith lofted the ball cleanly over Cummins’ head as it went sailing over the long-off boundary for a big six. Both the captain, Cummins, and his deputy had a smile on their face after the incident. The fast bowler saw the funny side to his bowling gaffe by sharing a clip of the incident on his Instagram handle which was also reposted by Smith.

Both Cummins and Smith have now for a long time played a huge role in Australia’s Test setup and would continue to be important to their team’s cause in the upcoming series against Pakistan. While the 28-year-old bowler has been one of Australia’s most crucial cogs in the wheel in terms of their bowling attack, Smith has been a monumental part of the batting lineup. While Cummins is ranked the number one Test bowler in the world, Smith holds the fort at the number three position in the rankings for Test batters.
