The praise around Deepak Chahar just doesn’t seem to end and it seems it would last longer now. Chahar unfolded unimaginable class during India’s 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka and pushed them to win by three wickets. India were reeling on 193/7 when the CSK pacer walked up to change the fate of the game. Though he is expected to come lower down the order and had to come after Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

However, Rahul Dravid’s genius mind promoted him up the order and he certainly changed his reputation of being a sole pacer. He played an unbeaten knock of 69 runs and was supported by Kumar on the other end. He smashed Lankan bowlers for fun and gifted India the ODI series. Right after the match, the man of the moment, Chahar addressed the press conference and shared some funny lines about Dravid.

“Rahul Dravid sir sirf Indiranagar ka gunda nahi hai pure India k bann gaye hai (Rahul Dravid isn’t just gunda of Indiranagar but entire India), said Chahar in PC.

Everyone knows the former legendary batsman Dravid hogged too much limelight through a famous TV commercial where he played the role of an angry man on the street. From the same commercial, he was referred to as ‘Indiranagar ka gunda.’ During the PC, Chahar also added how he has worked on his batting skills and how his father has been his coach always.

I have worked on my batting says Deepak Chahar

“I have always worked on my batting and my father has been my coach. When I talk to him, we always talk about my batting. It doesn’t matter if people see me as an all-rounder or not. The batsman who is playing alongside me will get confidence that I can hang around and will not give my wicket away. It is very important for a batsman to know that his partner will support him. It doesn’t matter if they see me as an all-rounder or not,” stated Chahar.

The CSK pacer also credited MS Dhoni for making him understand the importance of taking the game deep.
