The razmataz and extravaganze of IPL has only notched up since its inception. No one could’ve anticipated that the tournament would eventually emerge as the premier domestic league across the globe. With the shimmer attached to it, the IPL also mounts pressure on a player, often resulting in emotions taking hold of him.

The uninvited pressure often results in an on-field altercation between two players. A similar incident happened in IPL 2013 when two Delhi lads– Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli– had a tussle in the middle. In an encounter between RCB and KKR at the Chinnaswamy, skippers of both the sides had a heated argument when Virat was walking back to the pavilion after getting dismissed off Lakshmipathy Balaji.

Virat Kohli is he is always hungry to score runs: Rajat Bhatia

Former Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) player Rajat Bhatia has opened up on the heated incident between the two captains. Bhatia pointed out that the incident was a result of a clash between two aggressive captains battling it out for the triumph.

“That is something which happened when two aggressive captains played and they always want to give their best and win for their respective teams. Even if they had any kind of collision in that match, it was just a part of the game,” Bhatia said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

40-year-old Bhatia also said that he hasn’t seen the duo fight ever again after that incident.“Later, I have never seen them (Gambhir and Kohli) fighting. In the heat of the moment, so many things happen. But, it shouldn’t be happening for the worse. And on that day, it was not,” added Bhatia.

Rajat Bhatia also heaped praise on Kohli and his ‘hunger’ to score runs. The current Indian skipper, for his array of shots and batting consistency, is regarded as one of the best batsmen of the modern era.

“The best part about Virat Kohli is he is always hungry to score runs. And, that hunger never looked to end. That is why he is the best batsman at the moment. He knew that he has to perform and never stop,” said Bhatia.
