Rohit Sharma has carved a reputation as an unflinching and most importantly, a dependable batsman for India in limited-overs cricket. The 31-year-old forayed into international cricket back in 2007 when India faced Ireland and has gradually stamped his authority in coloured-clothing cricket. He has scored 21 centuries, combining ODIs and T20Is, to go with 49 half-centuries.

He is the only batsman with as many as three double-centuries in the 50-overs format, one against Australia and two against Sri Lanka. The Maharashtra-born batsman also has three tons in T20Is, the last of them coming in the Men in Blue’s T20I series against England back in July this year. Recently, the right-hander also notched his 18th ODI ton against the Brits in Nottingham.

In the meantime, his Test career never took off and has taken quite a number of hiccups. He made his debut in the format back in 2013 and has only played 25 Tests. His numbers in the sub-continent are stupendous, to say the least. However, his records in overseas conditions aren’t overwhelming by any stretch of the imagination. In 16 overseas matches, he has only managed 710 runs.

He last wore the Indian white jersey when India, captained by Virat Kohli, toured South Africa for a three-match Test series. He played the first two matches in Cape Town and Centurion and could only garner 78 runs in four innings with a top score of 47. India is currently playing a five-match Test series against England and Rohit didn’t find a place in the squad for the first three matches.

Kohli and Co are playing the second match at Lord’s Cricket Ground and Rohit is missing being at the venue. He mentioned that he is missing the atmosphere of watching the match from the iconic Lord’s balcony. He posted a photo on Instagram and wrote, “Would have preferred to be in the Lord’s balcony with a view of the ground but I’ll settle for this for now”.
