Sachin Tendulkar, the name itself is enough for living a profoundly acclaimed God-like character for many in the cricketing world. The master blaster, who has an abundance of followers and can still send chills if he steps into the cricket field even now, has very less critics. With 100 International centuries and over 34,000 international runs, there are very few records on which Sachin hasn’t registered his name. He is the inspiration for many budding international cricketers.

Having achieved great heights, the great man was still left eluded with a triple century in his entire career. Although he became the first man to score a double century in ODI cricket, he was unable to feature in the list of highly popular triple centurions of Test cricket which was ruled by the Great Brian Lara and had the likes of explosive opener Virender Sehwag featured in it.

Kapil Dev feels Sachin Tendulkar could have achieved more

The Indian great Kapil Dev believes that Sachin always had more potential to convert his starts into big knocks, his 100s into 200s, and maybe a 300 also. According to him, Sachin is the finest cricketer India has produced so far. He also added that he hadn’t seen any other talented cricketer like Sachin in his life so far.

“Many people misunderstand the statements I make when I talk. According to me, Sachin Tendulkar is the finest cricketer India has produced. I still feel that he should have done much better than he did. He had already done so much, and no one has performed better than him, but I feel, Sachin had even more talent,” Kapil Dev told former India cricketer and current women’s team head coach WV Raman in an interview.

“Sachin had so much talent that I hadn’t seen it in anyone. He knew how to score hundreds but he never became a ruthless batsman. Sachin had everything in cricket. He knew how to score hundreds but didn’t know how to convert those hundreds into 200s & 300s,” he added.

Reason behind having fewer triple tons?

Kapil felt that it has a lot to do with Mumbai roots since Sachin was from Mumbai, there’s a mindset of a Mumbai batsman starting from zero once he crosses century mark, and that could be the possible reason behind Sachin having fewer 200s and 300s.

“Since he was from Mumbai they had a mindset of when you score a hundred make a line and start from zero again. And that’s where I said no, you are such a ruthless cricketer, bowlers should fear you. Sachin’s talent was par excellence. But after a scoring a hundred he used to take singles and didn’t become ruthless,” Kapil added.

The Master Blaster retired from the game in 2013 and it can argued that he could have achieved more but what he achieved in his career is still a dream for many budding and even some great cricketers.
