The Indian Premier League 2020 has been seeing some massive scores being posted on the board in UAE. The current edition is being played across three venues of UAE– Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi– and the stadium of Sharjah has been turning a nightmare for bowlers.

The short boundaries in this stadium have let batsmen have the upper hand in the game as they’ve gathered plenty of runs in their bag. Heaven for batters but hell for bowlers, the Sharjah ground sees sixes raining like anything.

As it has been turning real hard for bowlers on this ground, former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has come up with a new rule for boundaries. This rule can fetch some relief to the bowlers as batsmen have owned the game like a king on Sharjah wicket so far.

Manjrekar took to his Twitter and wrote– “Over the ropes is 4. Outside the stadium is 6. Those are my new playing conditions for Sharjah. You guys okay with it? #Sharjah #MiniCricket”

Sharjah has dished out multiple high-scoring thrillers so far

Manjrekar made the rule and at the end, posted a statement to ask for people’s consent. Talking about Sharjah, the first match of the season was played between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings, where the former posted a huge 216 on the board. Steve Smith (67 off 49) and Sanju Samson (74 off 32) shared 13 maximums among themselves. CSK lost the match at that venue but gave a fair competition and posted 200 runs.

Royals hit 17 sixes, and on the other hand, the Yellow Army of CSK sent the ball for a maximum 16 times. The second game at the venue turned out to be another game where runs poured endlessly. KXIP posted a huge 223 with the help of Mayank Agarwal’s brilliant century but what came in return was even more interesting. Royals chased the hefty score with three balls to spare on the back of Sanju Samson (85 off 42) yet again.

Rahul Tewatia also showed his splendid batting when he smashed Sheldon Cottrell for 5 sixes in an over. Since then, other games also have been turning out to be a run-fest on that venue.
