Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi, the right-arm pacers, have bowled with venom and ferocity in the ongoing Under 19 World Cup. The Australian batsmen were subsequently blown away by the duos’ thunderbolts. The fast-bowlers beached the 140 kmph speed consistently enough to hog the limelight following which they were showered with praises from fans and pundits.

Sourav Ganguly, during his leadership days, churned out several youngsters some of whom went on to smash several records thereafter in the international circuit. The former Indian skipper was quick to spot the vibrant talents and dropped a tweet tagging Virat Kohli, the current Indian captain. Here’s Dada’s tweet

Nagarkoti- A fast-bowling prodigy

Surendra Rathore, Nagarkoti’s coach, also hailed the fast-bowler for his display against the Kangaroos. “Vo bana fast bowling ke liye hai (he is made for fast-bowling itself). His action is perfectly supported by his body’s biomechanics and that helps him bowl constantly at high pace at such a young age,” Rathore mentioned.

His coach also spoke about Nagarkoti’s agility and his prowess as a handy middle order-batsman. “He has super quick reflexes, those really help him in the field and his athletic ability makes him easy to spot when you see a game, he is a handy middle-order batsman as well and has won a lot of matches for the club with the bat,” Rathore added.

Ian Bishop, the current commentator and former fast-bowler, also heaped praises on Nagarkoti’s abilities. “I salivate with these things, it is so impressive,” Bishop mentioned in his commentary stint during India’s game against Australia. Nagarkoti has represented Rajasthan in U14, U16 and U19 cricket following which he was called up to play for India.

He impressed Rahul Dravid to the extent that he was drafted into the Indian U23 squad that toured Bangladesh. The Rajasthan-bowler is raw and needs to be nurtured appropriately in order for him to make it count at the highest level.
