Australia Test captain Tim Paine has played over 100 first-class games and 21 Tests after making his first-class debut way back in 2005. However, the decade-long experience of playing the game at the high-level did not save the wicketkeeper-batsman from facing an embarrassing situation on Friday while he was playing in the Sheffield Shield clash between Tasmania and New South Wales.

During the first innings, the Tasmania star had walked out to bat with just one glove. When he realised that he was coming out to bat with just one glove, he immediately walked near the boundary while asking his teammates for the gloves from the dressing room. Even the commentators had no clue about what was going on before they saw Paine extending his arm without a glove and realised the scene.

Tim Paine then caught a glove thrown towards him from the dressing room before walking towards the crease. He, however, did not last long scoring just six runs before becoming Jack Edwards’ only victim of the first innings. The video is going viral on social media now even as the previous incidents in the same tournament last season are being recalled.

Here’s the video:

Fawad Ahmed had hilariously forgotten to bring his bat while walking towards the crease during a Shield match in 2017.  Months later, he had walked out with two batting gloves that both fit the same hand.

New South Wales on top

New South Wales, meanwhile, have put themselves in the driver’s seat. Batting first, they posted a total of 375 runs on the board. Openers Daniel Hughes and Nick Larkin scored fifties to set the platform for a big total. However, the team kept losing wickets at regular intervals before some crucial contributions from the lower-order batsmen helped them post 375.

In reply, Tasmania were all out for just 255. Alex Doolan and Ben McDermott scored half-centuries but their teammates failed to contribute much.
