Imran Khan, the former Pakistani all-round cricketer, recently became the Honourable Prime Minister of the country. His party Tehreek-e-Insaf won the General Elections, which took place on July 25, 2018, after which Khan was blessed with the auspicious position. After retiring from international cricket following Pakistan’s World Cup triumph in Down Under, he forayed into politics.

He founded his party in 1996 and hasn’t looked back ever since. He contested for a seat in the National Assembly back in 2002 and then again was selected to the parliament in the 2013 elections. Recently, Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistani fast bowler, heaped praises on Imran and his party. Meanwhile, he also urged the nation to support the legendary cricketer in developing the country into an Asian powerhouse.

He has a never say die attitude

“I believe that he can help Pakistan become Asian Tiger but the whole nation must stand by his side if we are to succeed. I would like to congratulate the entire nation and workers of PTI. I’m confident that Imran bhai will deliver in accordance with the expectations of the people of Pakistan.

Other parties did put up a good fight but they did not have the presence of [Imran] Khan in their ranks. He has a never say die attitude coupled with determination and hard work which is the main reason behind his success,” Akhtar was quoted as saying in The Express Tribune.

Imran’s cricketing career was no less than illustrious. He made his international debut in a Test match against England back in 1971 and his career spanned 21 years. Moreover, he was the captain of the team in the World Cup-triumph. He scored 72 runs in the final to help his team to glory. In 263 matches, the Lahore-born cricketer notched 544 wickets and also racked up 7516 runs at the highest level.
