Lahore has been chosen as the venue for all the three encounters between Pakistan and World XI. Meanwhile, politicians in the rest of the country have questioned the move and asked why matches haven’t been scheduled in other cities of Pakistan. Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has disapproved Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi’s attitude in this regard, Express News reports.

Talking to reporters in Karachi on Monday, the provincial minister said that despite written requests to the PCB by the Sindh government, no matches were scheduled in Karachi. The 2017 PSL final was also held in Lahore, and it was a successful event, providing more boost in the process to convince teams to travel to the cricket loving nation.

We haven’t given up: Sethi

Najam Sethi had earlier said PCB was striving to stage international cricket matches at Karachi and it was also aiming to hold World XI matches there but unfortunately foreign players were not ready to play in the city.

“It does not mean that we have given up ( to hold matches in Karachi) we will be making things better in Karachi and we will also arrange the visit of the security teams there to satisfy them in regard to security issues “,he said adding “ it is a step by step measure, first we will be holding Pakistan super league matches in Karachi then we will also organise international matches there and that is the way to ensure the resumption of international cricket to Karachi “.

Pakistan will be hosting a series at home after a long wait. Barring Zimbabwe, who traveled to Pakistan in 2015, to play a limited overs series; no other country had shown interest to play in the Asian nation after the terror attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore, in the year 2009.
