The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday unveiled the jersey for World XI team that the players will don during the historic ‘Independence Cup’ this week. The board has geared up for the ultimate showdown which will feature some of the biggest names in the international cricket. The game is returning to Pakistan after a long time and the excitement of the fans is at its peak.

Cricket in the country has a passionate following and thus the tickets for all the games were sold out in no time. The tour is going to be a historical moment for Pakistan and it may pave the way to bringing back international cricket in the country. The cricket fans, more than anyone, deserve the occasion as they were deprived of some quality cricket since 2009 post the militant attack on Sri Lanka team bus.

Andy Flower presented the jersey to Faf du Plessis

The jersey was unveiled at a press conference when the coach of World XI side presented it to the skipper Faf du Plessis. The official twitter account of PCB posted a picture of the jersey informing the same to their cricket followers. The message read, “Coach of World XI Andy Flower presenting the playing shirt to captain @faf1307 #PAKvWXI #cricketkihalalala.”

PCB is leaving no stone unturned in preparations for the historic series and has also renovated the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore which will host all the three matches. Also, the World XI squad arrived in Lahore early on Monday amidst tight security around the airport and the team hotel. The first of the three T20 Internationals will be played on September 12 while the remaining two are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday, on local holidays.

The current generation of the Pakistan cricketers will also be playing international cricket in front of their home crowd for the first time. Already the likes of Shadab Khan and Shoaib Malik have let the fans know about their excitement to play on their home grounds and have also thanked the players for visiting the country for the series.
