Centurion Virat Kohli gave a surprising reaction after Shreyas Iyer got a massive turn with the ball during the final ODI clash against Sri Lanka in Kerala. Rohit Sharma-led team India registered a comprehensive win by 317 runs over the Lankan Lions on Sunday, November 15 at the Greenfield International Stadium.

The Men in Blue put up a mammoth total of 390 runs in their stipulated 50 overs in the first innings. During the Lankan Lions run chase, Rohit Sharma interestingly handed one over to middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer. What followed next was Iyer getting a massive turn with the ball with his spin which completely baffled Kohli who was standing at slips.

Team India complete series whitewash against Sri Lanka

Opting to bat first, Shubman Gill and Kohli registered centuries to their names with scores of 116 and 166* respectively where the duo added 131 runs to the second wicket with their sublime batting performances. This propelled the side to attain a massive total of 390 and kept the side in complete control of the contest.

The onus was then on the Indian bowling unit to defend the big total and they rightfully did so as the visitors were bundled out for mere 73 runs in the chase. Mohammed Siraj relished magnificent bowling figures of 4/32 in his 10 overs whereas veteran pacer Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav scalped two wickets each to wrap up the contest.

With the stirring bowling display, team India registered the biggest win by 317 runs in ODI history against the Islanders. Team India have kickstarted the road to the 2023 ODI World Cup with a dominating performance.

However, the side will need to keep up the consistency moving forward as another exciting clash awaits in the form of New Zealand series. The Men in Blue play their first of the three-match ODI series against the BlackCaps on January 18.
