As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season is underway, one of the tournament's biggest power hitters, Andre Russell, was seen checking the weight of his cricket bats. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) allrounder, known for his explosive batting and impactful all-round performances, was comparing the weight of his bats which he has received from the manufacturers.

In a video shared by KKR on their social media handle which captioned "Dre Russ’ bats go through a weight training too," Russell is seen meticulously inspecting the bats he received from the manufacturers. Each bat underwent a weighing scale, revealing varying measurements. The results were eye-opening, with one bat weighing 1299 grams and another weighing 1315 grams.

"I don't feel like that, though. This feels heavier. I want to take this (bat portion) off. This is heavy. Feel the bat. And then feel this one. So, even though this is saying it's lighter, it's heavier than this, which is weird," Russell expressed in the video.

The power-hitter was dissatisfied with the heavy willow as the weight of a bat can significantly impact a batter's ability to generate power and timing. The Kolkata-based franchise is currently in hot form as they have won all their three games played so far. With the upcoming clash against the defending champions, the visitors will be eyeing for another win and add two more points under their belt before they fly back home for their upcoming clashes.
