The career of Karun Nair has been an absolute rollercoaster, filled with both successes and failures. Nair has managed to have one of his best seasons in domestic cricket and has already shown glimpses of brilliance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well.
Nair played his last international match eight years ago in 2017, and despite his excellent performances in domestic cricket, he failed to make it into the national side for the Champions Trophy this year. However, the 33-year-old batter will be featuring in India A’s tour of England, which will begin on May 30. Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan also reacted to the news with a tweet on social media, where he recalled one of Nair’s earlier posts, in which Nair asked cricket for another chance.
“Karun Nair getting selected for India A is a clear indication that Dear cricket will give him another chance to play for team India again,” Pathan wrote on his 'X' handle.

Nair’s international and domestic record in red-ball cricket
Speaking of Karun Nair’s record in the five-day format, he has played 114 first-class games, scoring 8,211 runs at an average of 49.16. He was one of the highest run-getters for Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy as well, with 863 runs from nine games at an average of 53.93.
He has played six Test matches for India, scoring 374 runs at an average of 62.33, with his highest score being an unbeaten 303 off 381 deliveries against England in Chennai. This made him only the second Indian batter to score a triple century in Test cricket, after Virender Sehwag.
