Ireland pulled off a major coup after defeating West Indies in their final Group Stage game to progress through to the next round at the expense of the two-time champions. The Windies' departure from the tournament sparked a meme fest connecting their abysmal outing to the omission of power-hitter Shimron Hetmyer. The southpaw has bashed the trolls for involving his wife's name in the ruckus via an Instagram story.

Shimron Hetmyer was controversially dropped from the Windies squad for the ongoing T20 World Cup after the swashbuckling batter missed a 'rescheduled' flight to Australia. Hetmyer's omission was a hot topic in the cricketing fraternity, and after his side's unexpected exit from the tournament, the southpaw's absence raised even more questions.

While the Windies were trolled mercilessly for their controversial decision and early exit, some fans went too far by involving Hetmyer's better half in the commotion. The West Indian took to Instagram to bash those trolls in a story that read, "I have no idea why people bashing my wife about everything that I do. I do have a mind of my own and make my own decisions and choices." Mentioning his wife, Hetmyer wrote, "is my life and will be... she is the most gorgeous woman in the world to me and will always be beautiful my queen.”

Hetmyer's wife replied to her husband's viral Insta story

Hetmyer's wife replied to the dashing batter's post and stated that people will start talking even more now. She was puzzled by all this attention as she had no business in the dealings with West Indies team management.

"Lol more talking gonna happen lol I guess I play cricket too lol, tagging Shimron, my forever guy,” Nirvani Hetmyer wrote in her post.

West Indies' World Cup campaign came to an abrupt halt after the Caribbean outfit were humiliated by Ireland in a potential knockout game on the 21st of October at the Bellerive Oval.
