Team India clinched the Asia Cup 2023, defeating Sri Lanka by ten wickets on September 17 at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium. Mohammed Siraj was the star of the match who finished with excellent figures of 6/21.

The cricket world has congratulated the star pacer for his exceptional performance in the summit clash. Indian film director SS Rajamouli was the latest to praise the 28-year-old for his stupendous bowling spell.

Rajamouli took to his official X account and expressed his admiration for the Indian cricketer. "Siraj Miyan, Our Tolichowki boy shines at the Asia Cup final with 6 wickets… And has a big heart, running to long-on to stop the boundary off his own bowling…," he wrote.

Speaking of the game, Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and opted to bat first. Their decision backfired as they were bundled out for a paltry score of 50 in 15.2 overs, thanks to Mohammed Siraj and Hardik Pandya's outstanding bowling performances. India's premium pacer Jasprit Bumrah provided the team's first breakthrough, dismissing opener Kusal Perera for a two-ball duck.

Later, Siraj came in and picked four wickets in the fourth over of the game, dismissing Pathum Nissanka, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka and Dhananjaya de Silva. The 28-year-old went on to remove Sri Lankan skipper Shanaka and wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis, respectively and added a total of six wickets to his name. Later, Hardik picked up three wickets to fold Sri Lanka for just 50 runs.

India opened with Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill and the pair chased down the target in the seventh over as India comfortably won by ten wickets with 263 balls to spare. The win marked their eighth title in the continental championship, seven in ODIs and one in T20I format.
