The 13th match of the 2024 Women's Premier League unfolded at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, featuring a high-octane showdown between Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore Women. Gujarat Giants made a significant impact on the tournament by clinching a victory over RCB by 19 runs, marking their first win and opening their account in the points table.

Opting to bat first, Gujarat's opening pair, Laura Wolvaardt, and captain Beth Mooney orchestrated a masterful batting display, accumulating an impressive 140 runs in just 13 overs. The RCB bowlers struggled to break through the partnership of Wolvaardt and Mooney, with Wolvaardt's brilliant knock of 76 off 45 deliveries, embellished with 13 boundaries, eventually cut short by a run-out.

Meanwhile, captain Mooney anchored the innings with resilience, consistently finding the fence despite limited support from her teammates. She remained unbeaten on 85 off 51 balls, featuring 13 fours and one six, as Gujarat set a challenging target of 200 runs, highlighting the dominance of Mooney and Wolvaardt. Sophie Molineux and Georgia Wareham managed to pick up one wicket each for RCB.

In pursuit of the formidable total, RCB faltered under pressure, losing wickets at regular intervals. Despite promising starts, their batters failed to replicate the performance of the Gujarat openers. Contributions from Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Sophie Devine, and Richa Ghosh did not materialize into substantial scores.

Georgia Wareham emerged as RCB's top scorer with 48 runs off 22 balls, but it was insufficient to bridge the gap. RCB concluded their innings with 180 runs in 20 overs, falling short by 19 runs. Looking ahead, Delhi Capitals are scheduled to clash with RCB on March 10th, while Gujarat Giants Women will take on Mumbai Indians Women on March 9th at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
