Sourav Ganguly has denied any conflict of interest with respect to his roles in cricket at the moment. He is the President of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), an advisor for the Delhi Capitals (DC) and a member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s Cricket Advisory Committee. However, Ganguly has cleared that he performs the role with DC on an honorary basis and makes no monetary gains from it.

The Supreme Court appointed ethics officer Retd Justice DK Jain had sought a reply from Ganguly on performing multiple roles in cricket, as there were questions raised by many over his financial interest in his role with DC as an advisor. Earlier, Rahul Dravid was asked to vacate his position as the mentor of the same franchise as he was named the coach of India A and U19 teams.

Ganguly’s reply to DK Jain

Sourav Ganguly, in his reply to Retd justice Jain, has said that since he is not earning anything from his multiple roles in cricketing organizations, there should be no conflict of interest. He had met the BCCI ethics officer on Saturday to present his views on the issue after a lot was said regarding his presence in the Delhi dugout.

He further advocated to let him continue in his advisory role with Delhi Capitals according to the reports in Insidesport. Along with the ethics officer of BCCI, the legal experts of the Indian board, are exploring whether ‘Ganguly’s interest’ could still be treated as a possible conflict even though money is not part of it.

As of now, it seems that he will continue in that role and it remains to be seen if the top officials in the BCCI take any decision over the matter in the near future.
