India international Yuzvendra Chahal celebrated his 30th birthday of Thursday, 23 July. The leg-spinner, who is known for his on-field as well as off-field antics, was wished by many Team India members on his special day. From Chahal’s close friend Rohit Sharma to current India skipper Virat Kohli, a plethora of cricketers extended birthday wishes to the prolific spinner.

One of the most active cricketers on social media, Chahal has played 42 matches in the shortest format of the game and has donned the ODI jersey in 52 matches. Having represented India internationally in chess at youth level, Chahal is often credited for shifting his base from the black and white board to the 22 yards pitch.

Yuzvendra Chahal is the fastest Indian to scalp 50 T20I wickets

After breaking into India’s limited-overs squad in 2016 Zimbabwe series, Chahal went on to become the fastest Indian bowler to 50 T20I wickets. The Haryana-born player is also the first Indian bowler to scalp a five-wicket haul in T20 Internationals. Along with Kuldeep Yadav, Chahal is an integral part of India’s spin armoury in the white-ball format. Chahal, in 52 ODIs and 42 T20Is, has scalped 91 and 55 wickets respectively so far.

Kuldeep also wished health and happiness to Chahal on his special day and labelled the leg-spinner as his ‘partner in crime’. Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh came up with a quirky message for Chahal and called him ‘Mr Chuha’ while extending birthday wishes. Rohit Sharma, who enjoys a great rapport with Chahal, tagged him as a ‘GOAT’ while calling him greatest national treasure.

Talking about Chahal’s IPL voyage, the leg-spinner has emerged as Virat Kohli’s go-to man for Royal Challengers Bangalore. In 84 IPL matches, Chahal has plucked 100 wickets including 2 four-wicket hauls. Chahal, after being released by Mumbai Indians ahead of 2014 auction, shifted his base to RCB and the move reaped him a lot of success. He eventually went on to earn an India A call-up and also made it to the national team in 2016.

Meanwhile, all Indian cricketers including Chahal, have been away from international cricket since March due to COVID-19 pandemic. Chahal, amid the lockdown, had hogged much attention due to his social media activities and hilarious TikTok clips. With IPL 2020 likely to be played in UAE from September, Chahal is set to brace the field again while donning the RCB jersey.
